31.1.11

2011 - Day 31

Happy birthday
To the guy
Who brought me in this world.
Hope that life
Can be enjoyed-
Smell the roses
Watch them grow.
I know you can't
If just a flash
Dilute the lava,
Filter the acid,
For them
And us
And yourself.
Golden
Shiny
Wrapping paper
Present unbeknown,
Be prepared
But don't forget
The reason that
It Matters.

30.1.11

2011 - Day 30

Mellow all around
Soft pitter-patter
Mimosas and song.
A group regrouping
Take it in
Laugh it out.
Capture the memory
Remember the mood
And the people
And the games
And the cheers
And the speak
And the smile..
And toenails.

2011 - Day 29

Night of fun
I see you there
All around
Try not to stare
And then I find
Barbed wire fence
Fork in the road
I choose the path
Still
I'll turn around
Go the other way
It will take some time
But worth the trip.
Worth the view
And spinning rims
Will ride again
Striped devil friend.

29.1.11

2011 - Day 28

Here I am
Standing now
Inside a box
Below the sound
You can't feel
And I cant tell
Because my life
Clear bricks to stack.
Do you see?
Refined imprisonment
Unfortunate push
Design too intricate
Instead a frown
But not forever
Flow of confined
Electric impulse
To better the one
Breathes deep within.

27.1.11

2011 - Day 27

Multiple haikus
Wrapped up into one poem
Free flowing beauty---
Soft shades of purple
Pastel green and cream yellow
Jerusalem end---
With all death comes life
Blank slate to write new stories
No two are exact---
Heroes and no-names
You control your destiny
Just follow your heart.

26.1.11

2011 - Day 26

Gracious movements from afar
Imagination running,
This dancer prances close to me
Shes absolutely stunning.
One moment more the lights go dim
Her silhouette so fragile,
She twists, she turns, leaps, tumbles, rolls,
Magnificently agile.
An instant more and then she stops
Time freezes all that breathes,
Her shadow inches close to me
A sound like rustled leaves.
I can only stare as IT
Moves swiftly to my side,
And from It's dark reflecting eyes
I feel It's immortal cries.
So lonely it must be to dance
Eternity and more,
When all eyes look above to HER
And never to the floor
Her shadow, IT, so silent weeps
It tells me of It's flaw,
That at night It stands up straight
But it's light that makes It crawl.
A circular problem, for when it's dark
No eyes can catch a glimpse,
But when there's light It's flattened out
Cannot rise even an inch.
Destined to forever dance
Among the grass and flowers,
It crawls back to the dancing girl
With grace yet lacking power.
They float away into the mist
Their movements so astounding,
But now instead of admiring Her
I watch the beauty of the ground-Thing.

25.1.11

2011 - Day 25

Heavy,
So heavy,
I'm writing in the dark.
Each
Syllable
Floats
Freely
With nothing
Evolved from space.
Nerve endings vibrate
Soft Pulse
Electrifying.
Memory term shortage
Crumple in peripheral,
Stationary movement
No rhyme
Nor reason
But why should there be?
Too easy
And I'll prove it.

24.1.11

2011 - Day 24

The silver winding walkway
The first step is the hardest
Close your eyes and feel the wind
Convince yourself to trust.
To turn around and walk away
A shadow left in stasis
Your colors fade and turn to dust
It's lost before it's found.

23.1.11

2011 - Day 23

I wake up
The pitch of black
But feel the warmth
No need for light.
I step outside
Breathe in the air
Crisp and lovely
Can't ask for more.
Another connection
My meaning of life
To fill my heart
The joy of others
Knows no bounds
Shared
By all.

2011 - Day 22

Liquid mirror
Sees me clear
Am I not him?
Or are we one?
Reflect the past
Itch of tomorrow
Will await
While he stares through me.
Knows what I know
But opposite.

22.1.11

2011 - Day 21

I,
Cry,
When Angels
Deserve to Die.
Truly sad
Duly noted
A flash of memory
Like a punch in the face
No stopping it
Relive the experience.
To now observe
Some things more clear
A good revelation,
But
Painful,
Every time.

20.1.11

2011 - Day 20

Jack stares at me
With his sunken eyes,
Thin wiry grin,
And winged bat bow-tie.
Seeking more than present
He larger than the familiar
Not knowing the extent
Of what lies beyond.
Beyond,
Sally watches him
All encompassing
Her world is singular-
It is him and him alone.
It was always him.

19.1.11

2011 - Day 19

To each his own
See treasure's glint
And in my hand
A pearl black.
Struck from the Earth
Or clouds afar,
Your inner eye
Peek intellection
Unique perception
And true.

18.1.11

2011 - Day 18

Stripes in the sky,
Poisonous Gas
Stripe through the street,
Finishing first
Stripe on a bottle,
Jamaican Delicious
Stripes across cars,
Tokyo Drift
Stripes on a horse,
Newspaper creature
Stripes the long way,
Like a thin mint
Stripes going across,
Embracing your body
Stripes on a tent,
Water for Elephants
No stripes at all?
I couldn't imagine.

17.1.11

2011 - Day 17

She enters the room
Dark Shades
Reflecting radiant
Black-light aura.
Low cut,
High heels,
Gliding through the mass
Flawless to the beat.
I stop
And stare,
Defenseless
Her poison fills the air.
And then
She smiles-
Deaf to sound
Blind to light
I only feel,
Feel her energy,
Taste her happiness,
Smell her beauty.
An awakening.

16.1.11

2011 - Day 16

A silent meadow,
Dark inanimate shapes
Frozen in time.
A feather
Drifts slowly,
Riding a gentle current
Atop the crimson stream.
This place
Hidden,
Forbidden,
A monster's den
A crevice in
Evil's shadow.
Only at night
The sounds of torture,
Otherwise
An eerie peace of mind.

2011 - Day 15

A little late
Today is tomorrow
Recurring habit
Before I sleep.
If upon rising
A days events
Might be twisted
Into the abyss.
And midday,
Well,
Let's just hope
I'm absorbing vitamin D
Instead.

15.1.11

2011 - Day 14

A journey
Taken through the heart
While another watches.
Do they know?
The dance is ritual
But grows tiresome
In the wake of it all.
One can't know
What another knows
Without
Tools governed by the power,
The power of communication.
Will it ever be?
Is it meant to be?
Go find out.
Nothing holds you back
Except yourself.

13.1.11

2011 - Day 13

Hello World
Eyes did open,
A simple term
Worth so much more.
And from that day
A pebble rolling,
But more like
A Katamari Ball.
Now from new Worlds
I say Hello,
An ever expanding
Linguistic logosphere.

12.1.11

2011 - Day 12

Another day
It's getting close
Expectation
Running low.
It's an honor
In my eyes,
Why should bias
Claim the world?
Can you see
Past your nose?
Fair winds
Fair Trade
World Fair
It's just not.

11.1.11

2011 - Day 11

A contest
Of free-verse poetry..
How delightfully fitting.
BUT
It has to be good
Really good
To eye the publisher.
And the time-
Just three days.
Lucky for me,
The current workout
Poetry regimen
Participation.
Short stories too..
Conscious Slumber?
Night of Our Lives?
Click?
No.
Home,
Home is
The Story.
And my Guardian Angel,
He is
The Poem.

10.1.11

2011 - Day 10

A surreal moment
That lasts for a day.
A lapse of time,
With nothing to show for it
Except the feeling of strange
Coursing within.
The dreams will be vivid
And the night long,
For more than one reason-
A molecular battle
An empty grasp,
Words of truth
Yet to be registered,
A realization
Combined with
Determination,
And the meditation
Of future events.

9.1.11

2011 - Day 9

To sum it up
A shadowed blur,
Went by so quick
Worth every second.
A fist to the ear
Y bebidas de México,
Laughs and dancing
JE performance,
WOW
Another night
Of wicked fun,
A quick turnaround
Let's do it again.

8.1.11

2011 - Day 8

Late to bed
Late to rise,
This day ahead
Full of surprise.
Will Rapture's warmth
Bring doors to open,
Or will it instead
A frozen path?
Irregardless
Strength perseveres
Take whats offered,
Make it count!

2011 - Day 7

A green bottle
The deer stares coldly,
But I return a steady gaze
The sound of Cotton,
A background hum
Nothing exists,
Only the 6 point Buck,
Eyes painted black
No pupils at all.
A roar in the distance,
A Tiger has pounced.
And just like the Tiger,
I attack my prey,
Feed on the elixir within,
A smile slowly emerges.

6.1.11

2011 - Day 6

Through the last door
Of the looming tower,
A quick pace
My mind heavy with thoughts.
Then in my tracks
I stop.
The horizon is on fire -
A wave of magenta
Swirled with lavendar,
A melted creamsicle
Dripping deep orange blood,
With blue grays wisps
Of thin, cool smoke,
Tentacles reaching towards Heaven.
Frozen on the cusp
For long, wondrous moments,
Until the ocean
Smothers the flames.

2011 - Day 5

Sore eyes,
Body aches,
A day of days
With more to come.
A friend appears,
The zombie plague
To 21, we fight.
To rest these eyes
Would feel no better,
And dream until
The sun's warmth creeps.
Nay, not on this day
A day of days,
Instead the crack of dawn.

4.1.11

2011 - Day 4

Slant XL and Dub Stub,
Within another Bowl-
This of Sugar,
To sprinkle on my cheerios
And swirled through
Roasted France.
While oxygen fog
Lingers in this room,
This room of mine,
Till the world black.

2011 - Day 3

As Luck would have it
Discovering the triumph of Orange
To then pan for Gold?
Likely not in this day,
But one won't know
For days on end.
The end of Trees though,
A certainty,
True too for Luck's sculptor.

2011 - Day 2

Emotions, strongly felt
Blow dust from it's pages
And feel them fresh
Death is but a part of life
And can be celebrated
As well as mourned.
Tired, an accumulation of events,
But ready-
Back to stagnation
But with a twist.

2011 - Day 1

A new dawn has arrived,
Golden, shimmering,
Mysterious, exciting
To shape and mold our lives
To feed and nourish our souls
Live, experience, learn
Repeat
One day at a time.

A New Year's Resolution

So today marks the beginning (plus 4 days) of the year 2011. Of the various resolutions I made for this year (nothing too strenuous, mostly things to keep my life on track) one of the main ideas that i set forth for myself is to use and involve creativity much more in my life. Laziness and mental tracks set in and it makes it difficult to break free from a monotonous lifestyle. I feel guilty, guilty for not writing more than I should, guilty for not reading all the great books I lined up for myself in what seems like years ago, and guilty for doing nothing about it. I take an idea, grind it out furiously in the beginning, and as the early adrenaline of creation slowly wears off, other things miraculously come up, and before I know it I hardly touch my creative child and instead leave it to rot. Video games, early to sleep/early to work and social gatherings involving travel keep me from doing what I know I truly need - to create. To create ideas, words, worlds, unlocking emotions and thoughts, expressions and beliefs, depicting the world differently than I ever would.

So, As I began this new year, two thousand and eleven, I decided to write. I would not only pick up some old stories I began a while back and complete them, as well as write (the goal is THREE) new short stories during the year, but to keep myself honest, I decided to write one free-verse poem (my favorite kind) every day for the entire year. Today is January the 4th, and thus far I have three short poems created. These can and will depict almost anything my mind comes across, can and will be short or long, and can (and almost always will) be cryptic and rise from deep within.

The medium that I have been using to record these poems has been through my Droid on an app that syncs up and saves my notes on an online account which can be accessed on my computer. I thought I would eventually string them together - then today, I had the idea to just write them to Twitter, to have them floating near the public eye. However, After posting the first two days' poems to Twitter I have come to find that you have no room to write anything of value on that site. So I will write through my phone, then post on this blog, and finally update on Twitter the arrival of the days' creation. The best part is nobody reads this stuff so it is mainly for me- but you never know who might stumble across it.

So without further adou, I begin the journey of my own mind through free-verse poetry, my life in 2011. Cheers, and Happy New Year.
